More about who I am, what I’ve done, and where I’ve been.
Many have asked more about who I am. In a nutshell.
I’m a wife of 21 years and a mom of two. My daughter is 19, my son is 16. Born and raised in Mississippi, and lived in Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia (Atlanta), Tennessee, and now Louisiana. Studied briefly at the University of Southern Mississippi. Became a Kappa Delta.
Quit college when I found myself on my own right out of high school. (Could not go to school and have a roof over my head.) Started work as a bank teller, worked my way to head teller. Then started a career in property management, where I worked my way up to Vice President of Operations for a Real Estate Investment Trust Company in Atlanta. Became a trainer in that industry, and become a sales trainer and Professional Speaker for various industries. Spent five years learning to become a professional speaker.
Got married and became a committed Christian. Had 2 children, was a stay at home mom while I worked part time as a speaker/consultant. To be home more I started writing, and have been writing and being published monthly for so long I’ve lost count on the specific number of years. Attended CLASS (Christian Leaders and Speaker Services), numerous writing conferences, Became a Lay Minister through the United Methodist Church, Became a Hope Minister (North Point Community Church’s version of Stephens Ministry). I’ve been finding myself for years. Still looking.
Our daughter was in Rehab with Teen Challenge at sixteen. Leading up to that decision was pretty much hell for our family. We have experienced tough times. Our son witnessed the destructive behaviors that lead to that decision. My husband and I understand troubled kids and families who don’t have it all together. As business people, we’ve been around the block. We lost a six figure training contract after 9/11 and found ourselves broke and desperate for direction. Slowly but surely, we rebuilt and got back on our feet. We are a work in progress.
After it’s all said and done, I’m a people pusher. I believe in the power of personal choice. There are no small decisions in life. My passion is understanding that power, and reminding others to align those decisions with something so big it had to be of God.
Me in a nutshell. I’m here to remind you, that today, tomorrow, and every other day, it’s time to pick something. Just make it count.
